Why United Way?

How do I know my investment is wisely spent?
When you give to United Way, you entrust your hard-earned dollars to a local organization that takes this trust very seriously. The organization is committed to the highest standards of fiscal responsibility. United Way volunteers oversee allocations to all local programs, conduct annual on-site visits and closely monitor agency services. Just as important, Jackson County United Way's own operating expenses and records are audited by an independent auditing firm and carefully scrutinized by budget volunteers to protect this trust.

Is my contribution tax deductible?
Yes. All United Way contributions are tax deductible if you itemize your tax return. No goods or services are provided in exchange for the contribution.

What is the best way to give?
The best way to help the most people and make the greatest impact is to give to the United Way. Experienced community volunteers make sure donations are wisely spent in this community. United Way reviews the performance of agencies that are funded. United Way targets funds to meet important community needs and priorities.

Does the United Way spend a lot on advertising?
No. United Way is a community-wide effort. All local media make a strong commitment to deliver important information at no cost to the donor.

Where can I get help?
First Call for Help 2-1-1 is the comprehensive information and referral service provider for the Jackson County area. Our mission is to link people with needs to human service providers. 2-1-1 is supported by the Jackson County United Way.

If you or someone you know is having a hard time finding needed services (such as food, housing, clothing, or child care) First Call For Help 2-1-1 is here to assist you. Our helpline telephone specialists are trained to listen and find answers to your questions. Information is available free of charge through 2-1-1, a United Way outreach; Call 8 am-5 pm Monday - Friday.

How can I get more involved?
United Way and other partner agencies need and appreciate volunteer participation. Contact United Way, 522.5450 or contact any Partner Agency.
