Statement on Accounting and Reporting Practices
  • Jackson County United Way takes our role as a trusted community leader very seriously. As a result, we have a long tradition of adhering to very high standards of accountability and transparency.

    Independent Organization
  • Jackson County United Way (JCUW) is an independent organization founded and governed by local volunteers to improve lives and strengthen our community. JCUW is a member of United Way of America and annually completes certification of strict membership requirements.

    Stringent Checks and Balances
  • Jackson County United Way has a stringent system of checks and balances in place to ensure that it is operated in a sound fiscal manner. The organization’s operating budget as well as its community funding decisions are reviewed and approved by several volunteer committees, including the Board of Directors.

    High Audit Ratings
  • The independent CPA firm, Blue & Company, LLC, conducts an annual audit of Jackson County United Way. The latest audit was completed, 2009 as of December 31, 2009 and Blue & Company, LLC reported that our financial statements fairly and accurately present the financial position of Jackson County United Way.
  • The annual audit is reviewed by the volunteer Audit and Finance Committees and is also approved by the Board of Directors.
  • The organization also follows the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) Audit and Accounting for Not-For-Profit-Organizations to ensure financial statements conform with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    Openness to Sharing Financial Information
  • Jackson County United Way openly provides donors with information about how their donations are used. We welcome questions regarding these topics.

  • United Way of America Membership Standards
  • Designations will be assessed uncollectible and administrative fees in accordance with United Way of America Membership Standards.
