Jackson County United Way takes our role as a trusted community leader very seriously. As a result, we have a long tradition of adhering to very high standards of accountability and transparency.
Jackson County United Way (JCUW) is an independent organization founded and governed by local volunteers to improve lives and strengthen our community. JCUW is a member of United Way of America and annually completes certification of strict membership requirements.
Stringent Checks and Balances
Jackson County United Way has a stringent system of checks and balances in place to ensure that it is operated in a sound fiscal manner. The organization’s operating budget as well as its community funding decisions are reviewed and approved by several volunteer committees, including the
Board of Directors.
High Audit Ratings
The independent CPA firm, Blue & Company, LLC, conducts an annual audit of Jackson County United Way. The latest audit was completed, 2009 as of December 31, 2009 and Blue & Company, LLC reported that our financial statements fairly and accurately present the financial position of Jackson County United Way.
The annual audit is reviewed by the volunteer Audit and Finance Committees and is also approved by the Board of Directors.
The organization also follows the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ (AICPA) Audit and Accounting for Not-For-Profit-Organizations to ensure financial statements conform with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Jackson County United Way openly provides donors with information about how their donations are used. We welcome questions regarding these topics.
