Thanks to the dedication of our donors, we were also able to claim $79,822 through a 1010 Grant match from the Indiana Association of United Ways, funded by Lilly Endowment in 2010. JCUW is eligible to receive an additional $15,000 in match dollars this year to be used towards the continuation of Jackson County Successful Schools, VITA and Money Smart Week.

The grant support will be used to sustain and expand Jump Start Kindergarten programs in Brownstown, Crothersville and Medora; sustain Family Preschool in the Seymour Schools; continue the VITA program and begin Bank On, a local financial educational program to unbanked families and individuals in partnership with local banking institutions; support the anticipated AmeriCorps program beyond the 1st year; work to enhance health initiatives to support healthy lifestyles; and increase capacity of JCUW to support education, income and health community outcomes.”

Conducting a JACSY Leadership Giving Campaign

  • Ask your CEO to serve as the JACSY Leadership Giving chair. He or she should participate at that level of giving.

  • Work with the payroll department to determine who to target for your leadership giving campaign by salary range, management level, or donors who may already be close to that giving level.

  • Ask the CEO to host a breakfast or other meeting to kick off your leadership giving campaign prior to your employee campaign. Invite a United Way to attend and talk about the JACSY Leadership Giving Circle.

  • Send personal invitations from your CEO to the potential leadership givers. Create an agenda that follows the Ten Minute Meeting Agenda. However, be sure to include the following:
    • CEO explains leadership giving ($1,000 and above) and its benefits.
    • CEO gives personal endorsement of program.
    • CEO asks employees to consider giving at a leadership level.
    • Husband and wives may combine their gifts for recognition.
    • (Be sure to notify United Way in those cases.)
  • Follow up with those who were unable to attend.

  • Report all leadership results with appropriate documentation to United Way.

  • Report the results of the leadership giving campaign to all employees.

  • CEO hosts a thank you/recognition event.
