July 2011
Each summer quickly fades and school bells ring. Families must prepare all summer to stock their children's backpacks with all the necessary items- pens, pencils, paper, notebooks, rulers, and more!
Because this adds up in a hurry, Jackson County United Way is proud to host the third annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive, to benefit students in Jackson County.
2009’s first annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive was a huge success by collecting over $1,500 worth school supplies. 2010’s second annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive blew everyone one away collecting over 10,000 items and over $11,000 worth of supplies.
A special thanks to our 2010 sponsors and donation sites: Brownstown’s Dollar General, Brownstown Lions Club, Casey’s General Store, Cerro Wire, Cockerham Signs & Graphics, Culligan, Cummins Seymour Engine Plant, Dicksons, Hendrick’s Box, IBT, JCB, Medora Mini-Mart, Moose Lodge, PNC Bank, RR Donnelley, Seymour Chamber of Commerce, Tanner’s Market, Walgreens, Walmart SuperCenter, & WJAA 96.3.
Our volunteers make the Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive happen!
The 2010 Stuff the Bus Volunteer Coordinator was Tammy Eubank. 2010’s volunteer groups include: Big Brothers Big Sisters, Cummins Industrial Center, Epsilon Sigma Alpha Delta Delta, Girls Inc. Teen Council, Jackson County United Way Board Members, Seymour Community School Teachers, Seymour High School Cheerleaders, Seymour Kiwanis, Seymour Masons, Seymour Rotary and St. Paul Borchers Lutheran League.
Collected school supplies are distributed to Brownstown Central Schools, Crothersville Schools, Medora Schools, & Seymour Community Schools. Each school distributes the supplies at their discretion.
