As the Coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to spread across the country and Indiana, Jackson County United Way is strategically working on our response. 

Like many of you, our internal team is assessing the situation daily, remaining vigilant, and following all recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease and Prevention (CDC), Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) and local public health authorities (Jackson County Health Department and Schneck Medical Center). 

While we remain focused on the health and safety of our staff and those around us, we also are determined to provide continued service to the community. We are taking steps to ensure we can continue to deliver the same high level of quality and engagement during unique circumstances. With so many Jackson County residence experiencing hardship during such pandemic, we want to make sure we are sharing all available community resources in one easy accessible location.

Child Care Assistance

  • Childcare assistance for school aged children
  • Operation Hours: 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Boys & Girls Club of Seymour is offering breakfast, lunch, and a snack daily to each child. Additionally, they are offering eLearning and other enrichment activities 
  • They are open to ANY child in the area that needs to utilize their program 
  • They are NOT offering any drop-in programs at this time, but are requesting all children to be preregistered and signed in by an adult

  • CASA program is continuing to provide a voice for children that have been abused or neglected

  • Children's Bureau Community Partners provide support and assistance for families with children in their home below age 18. 
  • This support and assistance includes basic needs, child safety related needs, and financial assistance.

  • Turning Point Domestic Violence Services in Jackson County is here and ready to serve survivors of domestic violence, sexual assualt, stalking and dating abuse during COVID-19 outbreak

Health Care Coverage 

  • Covering Kids & Families can help if you've recently lost health care coverage or if you don't have any at all.  
Emotional Support Assistance

Verizon Wireless 

  • Verizon will waive late fees for 60 days from March 16, 2020 to May 13, 2020
  • They will also not terminate service to a customer who's been impacted by the involving Coronavirus 
  • If customers are experiencing a hardship, they should call our customer service team to discuss their situation and available options: Call *611 from your phone 

Food Assistance

  • Beginning Monday, May 4, Anchor House will be discontinuing delivery and resuming food pick up on site
  • No one will be allowed inside the pantry, they will distribute pre-bagged and pre-boxed food at the door
  • Food distribution will be Mondays (10AM-3PM) and Thursdays (12PM-5PM)

Browstown Area Ministerial Association (BAMA)

Brownstown Community Food Aid
  • Food assistance available for BCCSC students 
  • Email all information except bus number to, and someone will deliver the food or provide a convenient point for pickup

Little Food Pantries
  • The H.E.L.P. (The Hunger Elimination Leadership Program) has designed little food pantries to help provide food assistance to anyone who needs it
  • Anyone is able to come pick up items at any time of the day

School Supplies Assistance

  • Through United Way's partnership with H&R Block, every household with a simple return can file their federal and state taxes for FREE
  • Tax Day now is July 15

  • Duke Energy will be suspending disconnections for nonpayment effective immediately
