Jackson County United Way (JCUW) fights for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our county. JCUW does this work with deep partnerships and collaborations ensuring impactful programming that creates measurable, lasting change. The funds raised from the annual campaign go to support 20 certified community partners and their program work focused on their part of our mission.
JCUW is in the last weeks of the campaign and has processed $780,624 to date toward the goal of $836,000 for the 2018-19 campaign. “We have a dedicated, persistent campaign team who have been hitting the streets and making calls to spread the message of the UW. I want to extend my gratitude to everyone who is working so hard for this UW campaign and our community,” said Dr. David Hartung, Campaign Co-Chair. “All campaign divisions have reported strong numbers which will help the United Way to continue to help fund each community partner’s community work as well as expand work to address emerging community challenges, however, we are still a little short of goal.”
There is a great incentive to give to the United Way this year. One of the ways Indiana United Ways has helped local communities and United Ways thrive is by offering a matching grant opportunity every couple of years through the support of Lilly Endowment. “This year we are a recipient of a new grant that can bring in $126,098 if we can claim a match. Our plan outlines numerous strategies including gifts from new donors of $100,” shared Sean Hildreth. “When you can give $2 a week and have it doubled, it is a great reason to get involved and support our work.”
There is still time to give and help JCUW reach its goal to serve more residents in need. “Please consider a gift to United Way at this critical time,” stated Tonja Couch, Jackson County United Way Executive Director. “We need your help. If you have not given yet, it is not too late to give.”

“With the annual meeting less than one week away, we need the community to help with just a little more financial support to ensure we can be the kind of community it hopes to be one where we are known as a place where we work together for solutions for neighbors and generations,” added Couch. “By listening to the community to understand its’ hopes, concerns and actions steps- JCUW has worked to pull together resources and create collaborations in order to address what we heard over the last two years. Now we need people to give a little or give a lot, to help further this work in 2019.”
